Lessons Learned from Building the Intelligence Program at the NFL

The workshop will walk through what it took to build the intelligence program for the National Football League (NFL), the roles and responsibilities, and how integration and collaboration are keys to its success.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion students will learn:

  • Role of the corporate intelligence unit, its mission in corporate America, and the difference between Government/Corporate Intelligence.
  • Steps to establish a corporate intelligence program/Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) – understanding scope and scale, the importance of buy-in and integration, and day-to-day operations.
  • Success factors for running a corporate intelligence program/GSOC – expectation management, understanding business lines and processes, and leveraging a network of networks.

INSTRUCTORS

Picture of Robert GummerRobert Gummer – Current Director of Intelligence Operations/GSOC for the NFL and has served in that role since December 2018. He has 23 years’ experience in the intelligence field; having served 8 years in the U.S. Army and continued to support the DoD for four years as an intelligence instructor. Prior to his current position, he was a FBI analyst for ten years, serving in a variety of roles to include Supervisory Intelligence Analyst, Assistant Section Chief, and Senior National Intelligence Officer of Science and Technology.

Picture of Jason Van't HofJason Van’t Hof – Currently serves as the NFL’s lead intelligence analyst for gaming integrity and international operations in the GSOC. Jason has conducted intelligence collections and analysis domestically and overseas for approximately two decades in support of the US military, law enforcement, the Intelligence Community, and the private sector. Prior to the NFL, Jason served in the Defense Intelligence Agency with various supporting and leadership roles on Middle East task forces and combatting terrorism centers.
